GZ announced PCR tests only take when needed

"The frequency of PCR testing will not be associated with the color of the health code. Residents should take PCR tests when needed. However, the at-risk population, such as deliverymen and residents in high-risk areas, should regularly participate in the mass screening of PCR tests. "said Zhang Yi, deputy director of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, at the city's press conference on COVID-19 prevention and control today (December 6).

Residents with non-emergency medical needs are advised to use online-hospital as their first choices or go to the nearest primary health care institution. Since October 20, Guangzhou's online hospitals have served 270,700 people and written 15,300 prescriptions. Medicine has been delivered to patients.

Guangzhou further optimized control methods and protected the at-risk population from three perspectives. In terms of medical institutions, general and emergency clinics are available for patients with green codes. New inpatients and their companions are required to provide 24-hour negative PCR test certificates, while patients in fever clinics need PCR testing.

Regarding traveling, 48-hour negative PCR test certificates are required for passengers who take airplanes, high-speed trains, trains, cross-province public transport buses, and ships. PCR testing is required for all passengers arriving in Guangdong.

In terms of the at-risk institutions and populations, sites with dense populations, such as elderly nursing institutions, welfare institutions, and maternal and childcare institutions, are under enclosed management and require 24-hour negative PCR test certificates to enter. Other sites will stop checking the PCR testing results and open for residents with green codes.

On December 5, Guangzhou reported 3,371 local COVID-19 cases. 7,828 people were discharged from makeshift hospitals, adding the total discharged number to 94,834 since the outbreak of this round of the epidemic.
